Description

The Opportunity

An established high-end residential developer is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join its team on a prestigious, large-scale residential project in Henley-on-Thames.

The project involves the extensive refurbishment of a substantial country house, incorporating significant new-build elements, including bespoke leisure facilities, additional outbuildings and associated site-wide infrastructure.

This is a major, high-value development for a private high-net-worth client, requiring a Design Manager with a strong understanding of luxury residential construction, complex refurbishments and detailed design coordination.

Previous experience delivering high-end residential refurbishment projects is essential.

Candidates must have a proven track record working on substantial luxury residential refurbishments, ideally involving country houses, private estates or similarly prestigious properties.

Key Responsibilities

Take responsibility for design coordination across the project, ensuring all disciplines and design packages are effectively managed.

Maintain close liaison with the client team, consultants, architects and specialist contractors.

Coordinate design reviews with specialist contractors throughout the project.

Manage multidisciplinary design coordination to ensure all information is properly integrated.

Work closely with the construction team to identify potential design issues, reduce programme risks and ensure buildability.

Monitor design progress and ensure information is delivered in line with the construction programme.

Identify and resolve design clashes and technical issues before they impact site operations.

Ensure specialist contractor design packages are coordinated with wider project requirements.

Essential Requirements

Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Manager within the construction industry.

Demonstrable experience delivering high-end residential refurbishment projects.

Experience working on substantial luxury residential properties, country houses, private estates or similar high-value developments.

Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design coordination.

Experience liaising with architects, consultants, specialist subcontractors and private client teams.

Strong technical understanding, with the ability to identify design risks and resolve buildability issues.

Excellent communication, organisational and coordination skills.

The Opportunity

This is a permanent opportunity to join a prestigious high-end residential developer on a significant country house project in Henley-on-Thames.

The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating the design of an extensive residential refurbishment alongside new leisure facilities, bespoke outbuildings and wider site infrastructure.

Please note: Previous high-end residential refurbishment experience is essential. Candidates with exclusively volume housebuilding, standard new-build residential or commercial construction backgrounds will not be suitable.
