We got this at a Vide Maison at Reims, Champagne, and have used it in a collection as a decorative item.
It’s a well used antique/vintage Coffee grinder, or Moulin à café, by PEUGEOT FRERES who is an old and very well regarded manufacturer in France.
It’s a sturdy attractive piece in what I’m advised is fruitwood with a metal handle and opening to the top and bearing a brass badge with the trademark of PEUGEOT FRERES.
Quite art deco style in design but I’m advised it dates to the early 1940s.
Now worn but sound with an attractive patina it makes a great collectible piece of French kitchenalia.

In good antique/vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use - please examine photographs carefully for condition.
In more or less as found condition having just had a light clean and wax.
NOTE: This works surprisingly well for grinding coffee beans but is being sold as a decorative item only. The handle still turns the grinding mechanism inside and I’ve ground a couple of coffee beans with it resulting in a ground coffee product as shown in the photos - however this is probably now a decorative item and being sold as such.
The whole is in a worn and stained but sound and rigid condition constructed from solid wood - see photos.
All joints are sound but there is some warping to the bottom which I’ve photographed - see photos.
No sign of woodworm.
The metal parts are worn but sound and now showing an aged and worn patina - see photos.
The interior metal parts are present and sound.
The painted metal dome is worn but sound.
The iron handle is worn but sound and turns.
The wooden handle knob is secure and sound.
The grinding burrs turn when the handle is turned.
The top opening is secure and opens/closes.
The drawer opens and closes with the interior side springs intact.
The base is worn but sound.

Measures approximately:
21.5 cm tall to the top of the handle, 12 cm tall to the top of the box,
14.5 cm long , 14 cm wide,
Weighs about 900 g.
