Mahogany Grandfather Clock
Formby, Merseyside
£600
Description
A good quality mahogany Grandfather clock in the late 18th Century style. It has a break arch top case with side frets and a glass door to access the brass dial with a silvered chapter ring and Tempus Fugit plaque. A glass fronted door with lattice panels is fitted to the long case providing access to the 3 brass heavy weights used to power the clock movement. Access to the movement is provided by removal of the top case via slides provided in the construction. This makes for easy access to the movement for pendulum removal/replacement or adjustments to the suspension and timing. This also provides access to the strike/silent control lever.
The clock has an 8 day, 1/4 hour Westminster chime movement, with a long pendulum.
Overall dimensions are approximately 410 mm wide x 1970 mm high x 290 mm deep.
The case retains its original finish in good condition. The material covering the side fret on the right hand side is slightly damaged as can be seen in the photo.
The clock can be seen working and chiming. Please contact me for any further information required.
Collection only from Formby, Liverpool.
