GRANDFATHER CLOCK
Ashford, Kent
£95
Description
It was made by George Clarke of Long Buckby around 1823 who came from a family of clock makers. An ancestor , also a George Clarke, was a well known clock maker in the village in the mid 18th century. Long Buckby is the village near to Althorpe which was Princess Diana’s family home and she frequented the village as a young girl.
It is a day clock that I inherited from my father who had just had it serviced and the dial restored by a well known expert.
It is 209cm tall and 46cm wide. It works but when we moved recently it was packed expertly to stop damage to the mechanism and we have not worked out how to set it up again, not that we tried very hard!
We love it but there is nowhere it will fit in the house we have moved to. We will be open to offers
Buyer collects, we live in Wye, Kent and we are very easy to find.
