For sale very rare, fully renovated 1960's set of 6 Ercol Windsor Swept Back Dining Chairs (model 737) in 'Light / Blonde Finish'.

This iconic piece was designed by Lucian Ercolani and manufactured in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire and is now back in fashion (keenly collected and highly regarded). Ercol furniture is synonymous with good design, quality materials and craftsmanship and is built for longevity. This is a real eye catching piece of vintage retro furniture which is currently back in production and sale however no longer made from an English Elm wood.

Each chair has a saddle shaped solid English elm seat with beech spindles and legs. The seats are showing some lovely complex elm grain. The subtly fashioned low backrest rails are made from a single piece of steam bent English elm (which is very unusual for Ercol chairs as most of them have got backrest rests made of beech) and consists of 6 turned beech spindles. The well constructed solid elm seat is inset beneath with angled tapering legs which provide perfect support, and matching H pattern stretchers help to bolster the chairs structural rigidity.

Each chair has been professionally restored to its original condition and is being sold in as new condition. It has been striped of all old polish, any dents or scratches removed, re-stained (the seat and backrest) and re-polished (three coats of extra durable, water and heat resistant varnish) to a pristine condition. It is free of any damage, splits, repairs or wear to joints.
