Personal Assistants /Home Carers required for active, outgoing disabled woman with a teenage son.

I currently have a lovely team of people that support me 24 hours a day, who cover shifts throughout the week. I am looking for someone to join our team. I live in the Southville area in Bristol.

As I have a progressive muscle weakening condition I currently use an electric wheelchair and need a lot of support. I have a lovely 16 year old son and a small sweet dog. This role involves; Helping me throughout the day and sometimes at night. Personal Assistants have their own private room in my house where they sleep. During the day tasks include getting out of bed, positioning of my body, assisting with personal care, medication and equipment, helping me get up, showered and dressed, plus assisting with getting things ready for mealtimes for me and my son. I also now use a portable ventilator to support my breathing and so PAs also help me put my mask on and adjust it throughout the day.

Household tasks are required such as washing up, laundry, shopping, cooking, cleaning, plus supporting me with eating and drinking throughout the day, dog walking, driving to appointments, supporting me to do the things I enjoy such as meeting up with friends for coffees, cinema and theatre going and dog walks around Bristol including lovely Ashton Court!

The rota is on a four week cycle and each shift is 24.5 hours long starting at 9am and finishing at 9:30am.

I'm looking to fill:

3 x 24.5hr shifts per 4 week period

Week 1 – no shift rota’d

Week 2 – Friday

Week 3 – Friday

Week 4 – Friday

Members of my current team enjoy this aspect of the job as working a 24 hour chunk of time affords a large amount of flexibility in the remainder of their week.

There are also times when cover is required for other PAs due to holiday / sickness, so sometimes other overnight and daytime cover is also required.

I currently have a team of 8 and changes throughout the year sometimes occur. This might provide some opportunities to increase hours in the future.

Bank Position - I'm also looking for someone to come on my team as bank staff, covering occasional shifts as and when needed. This might be to cover holiday or sickness for other members of the team.

I am looking for friendly, flexible and committed people who have great communication skills, good energy and are happy to work on their own initiative.
