Description

I am a 50-year-old female wheelchair user who works full-time for the BBC. The help of my PAs is vital in enabling me to carry out my job and live independently. I am paralysed from the neck down so I need assistance with most work and personal care tasks. I am looking for a new part-time permanent PA/facilitator/care assistant who can start as soon as possible. Training will be given. I have 2 PAs with me and my PAs operate an ‘hour-on, hour on-call’ system so you will have plenty of breaks during each shift. There is a large amount of typing in the role. The job involves moving and handling so you need to be physically robust.

Hours and pay:

Mondays 9.30am to 3pm, Thursdays 9.30am to 3pm, Fridays 10.30am to 6pm (19.5 hours per week). Pay £273 per week gross (£14 per hour gross).

Start date: As soon as possible.

Annual leave: You will be entitled to four weeks paid annual leave per year. You will also be entitled to Bank Holidays or time off in lieu or extra pay if you work on a Bank Holiday. You can also take one week of unpaid leave per year.

Location: I work from home most of the time in White City, W12 (nearest tube stations White City and Wood Lane). Now and again I work in BBC offices, either TV Centre, Wood Lane W12 7RJ or Broadcasting House, Portland Place, London, W1A 1AA.

Duties:

Typing

Operating a computer, especially Microsoft Word, Outlook and the internet.

Note-taking

Operating office equipment eg printer

Operating the telephone

Personal care including toileting, cooking and feeding

Some general household tasks including shopping

Accompanying me to other locations (eg on foot and by taxi)

Pushing wheelchair
