Description
ABBEY FREESTYLE 470 (2000)
TWO BERTH, SHOWER, REAR BATHROOM
Hello thanks for your interest. Me and my wife bought this from Barclay at Mid Devon Caravans two and a half years ago. He delivered it to Rob and Becca at Hartland Caravan and Camping Park, near Clovelly, between Bideford and Bude. She has been there ever since, kept in storage and then pulled out when we visit. We are regular visitors Winter and Summer at least ten times a year, because Hartland is such a beautiful little village with good pubs, shops and a friendly very relaxed community. A great place as a base.
'Rosie' is in really good order. We have looked after her and done the odd cosmetic repair here and there. The most we have had to do is replace a switch in the kitchen tap and buy a new cannister for the toilet. She comes with everything you need - a good battery, aquaroll waste and water tank. She has a motor mover fitted but we have only used it once since we have been there so if you visit we can check it out when you are here, I'm sure it's fine. She is very dry and the window seals all in good order. No leaks at all. The floor is solid. The seating cushions are in very good order and the carpet also. The two front seats convert into a very comfortable double bed with ample storage underneath for duvets, pillows etc etc.
The park is extremely good value for money cost wise if you are looking for a place to keep your van stored. Becca and Rob are a great team if you want to contact them about storage. They can also vouch for us too.
There is a really good heavy duty porch awning (Dorema Quattro 275) but we are thinking of taking that with us (we have bought another Abbey - just upsizing - Spectrum 535, 2007 and she will also be kept at Rob and Becca's ). But we might be open to a good offer, it's virtually new and cost us £800. Metal poles, not blow up. Very sturdy.
The van is ideal as a first purchase while you test out whether caravanning is for you or not and if you look after her she will still be easy to sell in a few years time, because of Abbey's reputation. The only thing I can say is wrong with her is that the curtains are a little faded and the Abbey badges on the front of the caravan are very faded too. One of the rear brake light covers also has the tiniest crack in one corner and there is a small dull area on the side of the van - about ten inches in diameter - almost as if someone has tried to use T-Cut on it or something and quickly realised that was not a good idea - not quite sure what it is but you can only see it when the sun is shining a certain way. No discolouration. There is some cracking in the plastic cover for the hitch but that is purely cosmetic and if I get round to it I will repair this before you visit.
Get in touch - we live in Minehead but can arrange to meet you if it's a serious enquiry - it's quite a drive for us so please don't visit if you aren't seriously interested. Many thanks. Nigel and Kim Neill
