Why buy a Porsche Boxster? Because they are immense fun, still very flashy and go like the proverbial shxt off a shovel, if you thinking about one, buy a proper one, don’t go for the apprentice 2.5 and 2.7 models, get the 3.2 S top of the range version, the one that beat the 911’s lap time around the Nuremberg ring and is faster at 0-60 than its larger much more expensive 911 cousin.

These early model 986’s are really looking classic now, especially if they have retained the amber indicator lenses and correct 17” alloys as this genuine example has, slide inside the half leather seats and enjoy a true open top speedster driving position with a completely unmolested interior wrapped around you, power hood and windows, power mirrors, power drivers seat adjustment, climate control, hood down, wind deflector, period entertainment, all exactly as it left the factory and everything in perfect working order.

The unmarked graphite alloys all have excellent tyres fronts as new, rears brand new just fitted, the front and rear brake discs are in excellent condition as are pads housed in the stand out bright red painted callipers, lovely unbelievably straight body panels all round with no notable imperfections to point out, fully working electric hood with great condition rear window and damage free fabric all in excellent condition. This car impresses you from ever angle, its been very well cared for.

PAPERWORK
We have the full current logbook, the private “P80XTE” (Porsche Boxster) plate is included in the sale, first registered 7th March 2001 (see below for the significance of this date), comes with both original remote locking keys and the third manual key, factory wallets, main one and smaller one that slides beneath the steering wheel, fully stamped service book, handbook, 2 Porsche service location guides, audio guide, radio code card, several old MOT’s, HPI all clear report, new diagnostic report and some service invoices.

SERVICE HISTORY
Ask any Porsche owner, enthusiast, dealer or mechanic the most important thing about buying any Porsche and the will repeatedly say service history, service history, service history.
This beauty has only 61278 genuine miles on the clock and well serviced thought its life 16 services recorded in the book at the following mileage: 6155 / stamp over miles / 18341 / 21941 23359 / 25723 / 28787 / 32391 / 36925 / 40668 / 50270 / 53830 / 57197 / 59472 /59627 & 61278, plus there are a further 10 main dealer stamps in the book for condition reports, brake fluid changes and air bag checks. It’s just had all new plugs, oil and filters fitted (the oil that came out was like new see pics and video), sold with a new 12 month’s MOT until Feb 2027

UNDERSIDE
In our YouTube demo video, we spend several minutes examining the underside of the car, inspecting all the linkages, bushes, pipes, brakes, rubber seals, oil leak checks, structure and trays, well worth a watch, car is spot on front to back.

IMS BEARING
A well discussed topic in Porsche circles, not only noted on the Boxster but also the 911. Judging by the service history it would be a given that this bearing change has been attended to and there is a note of a new clutch fitted at 57017 miles when it most certainly would have been done, however to be certain we have inspected the joint of transmission and engine for any signs of an oil leak, none present, we have also cut open the removed oil filter and checked it for any signs of metal particles, again all clear (see the video).

CHEAPER ROAD TAX & RUNNING COSTS
Is it cheap to run? In all honesty not really, but isn’t that the point, enjoying your hard earned on something a bit fancier, it’s not too bad though.
First registered on the 7th March 2001 an import early March date which now makes a huge difference to you’re running costs in the next few weeks it will become 25 years young and benefit from widely available classic car insurance rates, but here is the real kicker, the early March registration exempts it from the huge road tax rates about to be introduced for all other large engine models newer than this one, it stays in the old price bracket, which has gone up very slightly, nowhere near the new crazy £798 rate others will pay, that early March registration now makes this particular Boxster a very desirable option.

You should get this car on a classic car limited use insurance policy for very little money, in my 50’s with good driving record I’d pay around £150. Road tax we’ve already covered. The MPG, if you trickle round town with the top down you’ll be lucky to see 20mpg, get out on the open road and it becomes a reasonable 35mpg, servicing is not as expensive as you’d imagine, the engine service parts came to us for less than £100 (invoice available), the 2 new rear tyres costing £144 for the pair (correct speed rated, not budget), there are plenty of none main dealer specialist working on these cars for sensible money now.

TEST PILOTS
We don’t often sell cars in the higher insurance groups and sadly we do not have the demonstration cover for you to test drive it, we will of course take you out in the passenger seat for a run, or you can place 7 grand in my hand for safe keeping until you bring it back the same shape. Absolutely any inspection by a recognised and qualified professional or AA / RAC is welcome and encouraged, your pal putting on his overalls and pulling a trolley jack out the boot might not be well received.
