LARGE VINTAGE FRENCH BLUE & WHITE ENAMEL SALT BOX, SALT PIG, SALT CELLAR, BOÎTE À SEL - 1950s FRENCH KITCHENALIA - REDUCED!

Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

Part of our collection of French kitchenalia, we got this from a brocante at Reims in the Champagne region intending to hang it in our French kitchen but never did so.
It’s a large blue and white enamel salt box, pig, cellar - or boite a sel in French - that is Art Deco in style but probably dates to around the 1950s.
A quality piece that’s thickly enamelled with a chequerboard pattern, repouse ridged panels and the word SEL to the front, it has a flip top lid and hole to the top for wall hanging.
Now a little worn but still in a very good, sound, bright condition, this is functional as intended and also makes a great display piece of French kitchenalia.

In very good, sound, used, condition with light wear, chips and rust - please examine photos carefully for condition.
The enamelled surfaces are thick and bright with wear but no damage - see photos.
The interior is clean with some wear, staining and light rust - see photos.
The rear has light wear from use but is sound with no flex to the backplate.
There are very few small chips and there is some light rusting but no significant damage or corrosion - see photos.
The lid is sound and secure at the hinge.
This can be wall hung or freestanding.
I can find no maker’s mark.

weighs about 660 g.
