Volkswagen Transporter VW T4 SWB Campervan (2003)

Description

White over sky-blue two-tone, 225k miles, 2003 so last of the T4s (gets all the waves).
Basic panel van conversion so very little excess weight and lots of room in the back for surfboards, bikes, etc.
5 belted seats when bed folded up (3 in front, 2 in rear) so also usable as a normal family vehicle.
Fridge, gas hob, fold-out bed, curtains in the rear.
Alloy wheels and LED running lights.
Leisure battery and mains electrical hook-up, USB charge ports and UK 240v plug (live when connected to mains).
Lots of the usual T4 rust areas have been treated (wheel arches, sills, windscreen surround, scuttle tray, etc.), though due to age this is likely ongoing.
Headlamps re-wired directly to the battery (common T4 failure).
Cab roof liner re-lined with carpet to match the main van.
Welding at the rear recently done by local garage.
New: radiator, wing mirrors, horn.

As it's a 23 year old van there are a few bad points, but nothing major:
- Engine pulls fine on the flat but is a bit weak/slow on long, steep hills – MAF sensor cleaned recently but not tested yet to see if it's improved the issue.
- Front lip of bonnet has some returning rust
- Rear lhs/rhs upper panels have some lacquer peel
- The sliding windows in the rear don't open as far as I know (never bothered me)

Comes with the camping kit: Outdoor Revolution drive-away awning, wheel chocks, mains electrical hook up lead, front window suction cup reflective sun shades/insulators/blackout blinds, wind deflectors.

As it's a minimal conversion the rear is uncluttered so makes a really great surf van , lots of room for boards, also easy to fit a bike in the back so you don't have to worry about it being outside on a rack. Can also double up as a work van.

I've owned it for 5 years (10,000 miles) and it's always been a reliable van on many adventures, only selling due to purchase of another.
