I am sadly putting my 1995 Delica Space Gear up for sale, as I now have 3 vehicles needing attention and only time to attend to 1, so having to sell 2.

I have owned this for around 15 years, and it has always been used sparingly as a 4th vehicle - fulfilling duties of camping trips, bike rides and the occasional tip run - but not as a daily driver.

It’s SORN at the moment, as the MOT ran out while I was investigating an electrical issue (now fixed), and I purchased a Delica D5 replacement to cover the duties - so have to get rid of one, and with multiple vehicles needing attention sadly the Space Gear has to go.

Really want someone to take this as a project and repair it to use - given the current prices these can fetch - rather than it being broken for parts, as it drives well and has been reliable during the 15-odd years I’ve had it.

It runs and drives with all gears and the 4x4 modes working, although the box takes a mile or so to warm up and change up.

The exterior is in expected condition for a 30 year old van - the paint is intact and in average condition across the majority of the van (reasonable higher up, but more worn lower down), but there is a small ding above the front indicator, the driver’s door has a piece of 50p-sized piece of lacquer missing and a similar sized paint bubble around a chip, most of the paint has worn off the bonnet scoop, and the bumper plastics have faded slightly.

There is a small patch of rust on the bottom of the sliding door and paint is starting to brown slightly at the very corners of 3 wheelarches. The roof was repaired 3 years ago due to a rust hole, and the filler has cracked and lifted - please see below for further details.

The interior has marks as you would expect on a 30+ year old van, but all seats are clean with good padding and no rips, and work as expected. All curtains are present, although some of the “rings” in the rails have snapped with age, so rings would ideally be replaced if to be used regularly as a camper.

The Delica has had a replacement alternator and 100amp fuse last year, and sits on Bridgestone Duellers each with 5.5mm tread or more left.

I have all service history and receipts from works completed during my 15 years of ownership.

Bad points:

1. Roof repair filler cracked
Had to replace a piece of roof panel due to rust hole, and had a replacement piece seam-welded in. Area had filler added over to smooth out repair, but unfortunately filler has cracked in a few places and requires redoing. Please see images.

2. Chassis leg repair needs looking at
Last MOT required welding to the chassis leg. This was patched over in order to get it through the MOT, but ideally requires redoing more neatly.

3. Glow plugs need replacing
The glow plugs don’t work any more and need replacing. Starts, but requires holding revs at ~1500rpm for a minute.

4. Rust on door and wheel arches
Small patch of rust starting to show through on bottom of sliding door, and slight browning of paint showing by 3 wheel arches.

5. Batteries need replacing, not holding charge
Batteries last tested at 70% condition, so need replacing.

6. Digital milometer LCD screen has gone black
LCD mileometer screen has delaminated and the black “ink” has spread across half the screen, obscuring the readout. Needs replacement fitting.

2020 MOT showed 134,982km (83,874 miles) as last readable value, and the van has done less than 1500 miles a year since then (up till mid 2024) - so estimating mileage as ~90,000-92,000 miles

7. Pulls to left
Van pulls to the left slightly when driving.

8. Overdrive button won't lock
Overdrive button on drive selector stalk won’t stay in. Currently use paper “wedge” to keep it in, but ideally needs replacement stalk.

9. Rear “Bumper mirror” glass cracked
Will need replacing

10. Fog light bulbs need replacing
Wiring works, just need to replace bulbs.

11. Dashboard tip-level gauge stuck
The dashboard-mounted level gauge has lost the liquid, so the internal marker is stuck in position.


There are also some advisories noted on the last MOT.

I have tried to give a comprehensive appraisal of the condition of the van and the points requiring attention, but it is very important that any prospective buyers view it in order to assess its condition for themselves prior to purchase - the Delica is being sold as seen.

Can be started, run and moved in the confines of my parking area, but as no MOT/SORN cannot demonstrate on road.
