Resting In Peace: Losing A Son, Losing The Plot, Finding Myself Again

Description
When you lose a child, the world doesn’t just stop — it shatters.
I’m Shaun Wilkinson. Just an ordinary lad from a small town in West Yorkshire. A D-grade student at best, more at home in the pub than in a classroom, growing up on football, mates, and figuring life out the hard way.
This is my story.
It starts with the usual stuff — chaos, daft decisions, stories that still get laughs now. The kind of moments you look back on and think, how did I get away with that? It’s easy reading at first. Familiar. It might even remind you of someone you know… or yourself.
But that’s not what this book is really about.
Because life doesn’t stay simple.
When I lost my son Theo, everything changed. Completely.
What follows isn’t a neat story about grief or some perfect way of coping. It’s messy. It’s real. And at times, it’s uncomfortable — even for me to admit. There are moments where humour slips in too… because sometimes that’s the only way through.
There are things in this book I wouldn’t even say out loud in a pub. Embarrassing moments. Bad decisions. Times I got it completely wrong. But I’ve put them in here anyway — all of it. Because I know I’m not the only one.
There are thousands of people out there living versions of this same life. Getting things wrong. Trying to deal with things they don’t understand. Laughing it off when really, they’re just getting by.
This isn’t a story about having it all figured out.
It’s about losing your way… and somehow finding a bit of peace again.
A brutally honest story about grief, mistakes, and finding a way to keep going when life doesn’t make sense.
