My wife bought this book from Chapters bookstore in central Vancouver around 2010 as the story captivated her as she worked in education as a teaching assistant mainly with children with special needs. However, she didn't getting round to reading it until early last year because of family illness, but several months later by sheer coincidence she started watching a true documentary on Quest Red cable TV - channel 168 entitled 'The Curious Case of Natalia Grace' and learned that this disabled girl, from eastern Europe, was adopted by the Barnetts and a whole new scenario of the family catipulated Kristine and her husband Michael into a tumultuous situation in the media, involving legal issues, court battles, finding the truth of Natalia's biological age and heritage amongst other questions raised, and finally culminating in the break-down of their relationship, after Kristine is shown in a totally different light to that of the nurturing parent of Jacob in the book.
