Published by Blackie and Son. Has stuck in certificate as given as a prize at Technical School Gloucester which dates it as 1914. Hardcover. Condition: Good. DE Walton (illustrator). Good condition, octavo, green cloth, three colour cover illustrations by Hassall, foxing to edges and occasionally internally, all illustrations and maps present, 378 pages.
This is a story of the activities of Robert Clive, 1755-60, including the campaigns against the Nawab of Bengal, culminating in his victory in the Battle of Plassey, 1757, and those of his forces against the French at Madras, Masulipatam and Pondicherry. The popular title by G. A. Henty (1832-1902), relating the origins of the British Empire in India, was first published in 1884.
