A Book of Words by Rudyard Kipling - First Edition 1928

1st edition 1928 copy of A Book of Words : Selections from Speeches and Addresses Delivered Between 1906 and 1927 by Rudyard Kipling.

Good / Very Good condition.

Red cloth with gilt eblem on the front, and gilt on to top edge of pages. Spine slightly faded and some rubbing on the boards (see pictures), and some foxing internally, but good condition for age.

N.B. Kipling used the swastika in his books as a symbol of good luck, reflecting its traditional meaning in Hinduism and India. After it's use was co-opted he stopped using it (See the Kipling Society website for more information).


Life's Handicap Being Stories of Mine Own People by Rudyard Kipling - First Edition 1891

1891 first edition of Life's Handicap : Being Stories of Mine Own People by Rudyard Kipling.

Very good condition.

Dark blue cloth with gilt lettering and design. Some rubbing on the boards (see pictures), but internally clean and bright with untrimmed pages.


The Light That Failed by Rudyard Kipling - 1899 Uniform Edition

1899 Uniform Edition copy of The Light That Failed by Rudyard Kipling.

Good condition.

Red cloth with gilt eblem on the front, and gilt on to top edge of pages. Spine faded, some rubbing and marks on the boards and front board loose (see pictures). Some foxing internally and slightly loose but everything present.

The Light That Failed was originally published in 1891 with a different ending. This is the first publication of the Uniform Edition and has a preface not that says "This is the story of The Light That Failed as it was originally conceived"
