Posting for under a monthLeisure 23SL bilge keel yacht allegedly last one built 1991
Folkestone, Kent
£6,000
Description
I find I have to sell my lovely little yacht Wine Time following a very serious skiing accident after having owned her for 8 years.
Condition
Wine Time benefits from a refurbished Volvo Penta 9HP engine purchased 2023 from Martello Marine Rye £900.
New sail-drive diaphragm £120. Two new leisure batteries and battery wiring £250. Four new engine mounts £200. New raw water filter and filter piping plus new seacock to engine. New morse lever and cabling £160.
Above work was carried out summer of 2023 by Ramsgate Marine Ltd.
The Penta has only been used for the return trip back to Dover following it's installation. The injector developed a weep on return trip, reseating it should effect a cure. The Penta starts on the button runs smoothly and pushes her along at 5 knots.
Wine Time further benefits from heavy duty standing rigging and guard wires to stanchions £1725 fitted 2024 by Shaun Duprey a Folkestone based rigger. Shaun suggested I check the navigation lights as he may have reconnected the wiring incorrectly but couldn’t be sure, the wiring block is located on the forward cabin deckhead. New genoa fitted by Faversham Sails 2024 £650. The Genoa has remained unused as I have not sailed her since my accident, as such the genoa sheets may require adjusting. Mainsail and halyards good condition.
Tohatsu Ultra-Long Shaft 6HP 4 stroke outboard new 2019 £1300 approximately 19 hours use, it's fuel filter and oil were changed summer 2023 only had 2 hours use since change. It starts 2nd or 3rd pull and pushes her along at 4 knots. Outboard comes with a service pack £50 and a £65 insurance approved S/S anti-theft device. The outboard is connected to a portable petrol tank with a contents gauge and resides in the transom locker alongside the diesel tank. New sail-drive anodes fitted July 2024. New O-rings to the sail-drive propeller shaft fitted 2019 sail drive has only run for 20 hours since O-ring and oil change. Sail-drive is fitted with a two-bladed propeller and an integral "fishing line cutter £70".
Wine Times previous owner fitted an encapsulated wood rudder to the transom making for easy manoeuvring when mooring. Having the rudder on the transom also frees-up space in the cockpit for sitting out. The rudder can be raised/lowered by pulley to prevent grounding on a drying-out mooring. One of the tinted windows has a crack which was there when I purchased her 8 years ago, she is a dry boat.
Two coats of antifoul applied March 2026.
Wine Time had an insurance survey summer 2024 the survey was carried out by Mandy Bruce of Magellan Yacht Surveys. Survey conclusion;
Wine Time is in sound structural condition and good general condition. She has also benefited from regular maintenance and a good deal of general upgrading. She may be considered a very good example of the class.

The 506 VHF is connected to a high quality American made dual VHF/AIS antenna £75. There is an SWR meter with a patch lead for checking the antenna SWR “standing wave ratio” £65.

Summary
Wine Time is a joy to sail single-handed and would be the ideal yacht for someone wishing to take up sailing. She is a capable coastal yacht and has crossed the English Channel many times. She is currently moored in the Wellington Marina Dover. Her purchaser can start both engines and motor her around the Wellington the mooring area. She has full tanks of diesel and petrol and is ready to sail away.
Her SSR registration was renewed April 2025.
Google comment;
Used Leisure 23SL sailing yachts are available in the UK, often priced between £3,500 and £7,000 depending on condition, engine type, and equipment;
The above Goole comment comment clearly puts Wine Times £6000 asking price into perspective given her equipment inventory, survey report and potentially being the the last one built.
Payment by Bank Transfer or cash.
Wine Time is advertised elsewhere so may be withdrawn from sale at short notice.
