Sailing Dinghy Classic wooden 1972 Firefly

Classic Uffa Fox wooden 1972 Firefly for sale.

Traditional cold moulded ply with teak and pine construction.

Been raced regularly across scotland for last 30 years by myself until last 2 years due to injury.

Includes main and jib sails and full rig, boyancy bags, lifting centre board, rudder, tiller, over boom cover, launching trolly and road trailor.

This 53 year old Firefly was built for Bradford University as a batch of 6 Firefly dinghy’s, hence its name, Flying Chapatti.
It is the last remaining dinghy still racing and is logged by myself with the Firefly association.


This little Firefly needs a bit of TLC, sanding and Varnish, but is water tight and all the wood is sound.

Over the 30 years i have owned this dinghy we have kept it in great racing condition, it has had the deck and gunnels replaced and epoxy coated, full strip down and revarnish over the years.

Sadly back injury is forcing reluctant sale as i am no longer able to sail and race.

I am open to sensible offers from interested parties.

Dinghy is located in Callander, Perthshire. currently and can be viewed at Loch Venachar sailing club by appointment.
