Description
Lifting bulb trailing to a point lifting keel
25ft sailing yacht
Cappella was owned by
a father and son team who bought “Cappella” when a year old and did everything right to maintain her through the years, as I see it.
A simple little yacht Similar to the one my later father down sized to so he could sail solo in his retirement
So i was able to ask all the right questions and was so impressed I ended up buy her myself
Cappella had her hull re epoxy barrier coated ten years ago and osmosis treated at great expense
So basically a new hull underneath
Hence why I went round the hull to inspect when out of the water to make sure it was done right with a flat screwdriver and didn’t find any soft spots at all but I did find a palm size lump of un sanded epoxy filler on the starboard bow waterline that I explored and found no issue.
I was impressed in Trapper’s build quality as Cappella is very light weight but still robust
Original proctor thin bendy mast, with new s/s rigging by Barry Emsworth
Mainsail looked very good I have videos with good battens in Velcro pockets
the luff track needs some lubrication at the top as not been used for a while other than the four day I enjoyed sailing her around Chichester harbour
Raymarine Tacktick mast head Wi-Fi instruments, which all worked, battery might needs replacing in the depth and speed one but still works and might come back to life placed in the sun
Electrics works
Have now fitted a Sony Bluetooth radio
lots of space to leave small items in well varnished hand made wooden boxes,
Has a big slide out chart table
Clean and tidy with new upholstery/covers in the rear two berths
Has a mercury 6hp outboard that is a four stroke so reasonably lightweight to lift out of the well whilst racing that has a bung to fill the hole so more hydrodynamic hull
i serviced the outboard before I left Hayling and now have a reliable easy to start outboard. No issues were experienced on the way back in no wind.
Have also given a deep clean and have been varnishing the interior woodwork
Resent new stainless steel Rigging for the mast by Barry’s rigging
Sails are in good condition, all sails made by Arun sails main three reefs and at a guess 4 seasons use but old that has very nice batons with internal Velcro to secure them
The mainsail cover is made by Arun sails and is in good working condition as sails were always remove every year
Has a covers made by a sailmaker to stop the rain entering the companionway that has seen better days, but it’s easy to copy, rather than design a new one.
The bolt for the lifting keel was replaced and winch work very well now and has two speeds and a release lever which was another upgrade
Area to the port of the center board was ment for a chemical toilet and had a curtain rail
Area to starboard is the sink and gas hob and grill with full gas tank
the interior woodwork is well kept unmarked and has a good coat of varnish applied very well so just needs a clean and possibly a light coat of varnish on top
Some woodwork on the coach, roof handles does need sanding down and re-varnishing but have started on the rear tow rail aswell as the interior
Sleeping accommodation
Two single aft berths that run under the cockpit seats
Two berths in the forecabin that can make a double with inserted board
With sealed gel coated storage underneath
Icom VHF and Sony Bluetooth radio
Two very nice vintage Amstrad speakers that sound very well in a small space as they have three different size speakers in each and are very small, so don’t take up space in the cabin.
If you don’t like them, I will happily buy them off you after the sale.
Has a piece of unmarked wood effect, lino cut out that fits in the the sole of the main cabin that’s clean on the top but stained underneath so could do with a new one which would be easy to do with this template, or just carry on using as the stain does not transfer to the gel coat cabin sole:
It will help the speed of cleaning the boat as the dirty won’t get stuck in the non slip so was another good idea by the original owner
Unfortunately I’ve a few other boats that must take my attention but wanted to give this boat a good sailing home as it would suit someone moving up for my dinghy to a small sailing yacht and didn’t want to see it sold to a non-Sailor again who did make every effort to keep all the kit together
Capella definitely is in need a bit of tlc from an owner who can spend some time rather than money
Extremely easy to undo the covers, hoist the sails and sail off (5mins)
