We are really pleased to offer this fantastic and immaculate Bentley R-type Saloon for sale on behalf of our client.The R-Type is the second series of post-war Bentley motorcars and replaced the Mk. VI.Essentially a larger-boot version of the Mk. VI, the R type is regarded by some as a stop-gap before the introduction of the S-series cars in 1955.As with its predecessor, a standard body was available as well as coachbuilt versions by firms including H.J.Mulliner, Park Ward, Harold Radford, Freestone and Webb and others.Even by this date, there was little difference (other than the radiator grilles and the carburation) between the standard Bentley R-Type and the Rolls Royce Silver Dawn, though Bentley was still the more popular sporting marque.Indeed, the vast majority of cars produced were Bentleys with some 2,500 units manufactured during the R-Type's run. During development, it was referred to as the Bentley Mk. VII; even the chassis cards for these cars describe them as Bentley 7's. The R-Type name, which is now usually applied, stems from chassis series RT. The front of the saloon model was identical to the Mk. VI, but the boot was almost doubled in capacity and the engine increased in displacement from 4 to 4 litres.Originally registered on 9th March, 1954 and spent much of its recent life in IrelandFinished in Metallic Silver/Grey over Metallic Blue with matching Navy leather interior.Boasts a wealth of servicing and maintenance bills covering its life.Our immaculate car has been subject to vast expenditure since its purchase in 2018 by its current owner.A complete bare metal body restoration has been carried out, fabrication and replacement panels where required, a complete internal re-trim with new carpets and leather.£30k on body restoration and various related mechanicals during its ownership£10k on full interior retrim, leather and carpet set.£6.5k on brakes, exhaust, fitting of modern indicators... in late 2023.As you can see a fortune has been lavished on this R-Type to get it in the condition you see today.One of the finest available with a full log of the works done.On the button, driving superbly and ready to go.Export and finance enquiries availableViewing strictly by appointment only.
