About the Client/Child

Bodhi (9) is a happy, caring and affectionate little boy with a fantastic sense of humour. He has Dravet Syndrome, a rare genetic epilepsy, and a developmental delay of around four years. Most seizures occur overnight and self-resolve within 30 seconds. Bodhi loves colouring, drawing, cars, books, swimming, tennis, board games, jigsaws, Toy Story, Cars and music. He enjoys helping with jobs and takes pride in his independence. His younger sister, Rose (7), is kind, caring and shares a lovely bond with him. While the role focuses on Bodhi, there will be opportunities to include both children in activities.

The Role at a Glance

Support Bodhi at home before accompanying him as his 1:1 support at his village primary school (YO61, approx. 30 minutes away) during term time. Duties include assisting with his morning routine, driving him to and from school (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday), promoting independence, supporting learning using visual aids, ensuring his safety and following his epilepsy care plan. The school leads on education and all healthcare training is provided. After school, support Bodhi with downtime and dinner until Mum returns home. Daytime seizures are rare and usually resolve within 30–60 seconds.

This Job Would Suit

A calm, patient, proactive person with a good sense of humour who enjoys being active outdoors. Someone confident, reassuring and able to stay composed in unexpected situations. Experience with additional needs is essential; epilepsy experience is desirable but not required.

Why You'll Love This Role

Join a warm, welcoming family and make a real difference. Benefit from a comprehensive handover with Bodhi's long-term nanny, specialist epilepsy training and excellent work-life balance, including extended time off during school holidays.
