About the Client/Child: You will join a warm, welcoming family with two cheerful boys. Jake (8) is affectionate, tactile, and enjoys sensory activities, music, and physical play. Edward (5) is curious and imaginative, enjoying football, creative play, and social interaction.
Jake has Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), and a speech and language delay. He needs close supervision to navigate routines and activities, has limited expressive language (often relying on nonverbal communication), and requires support with toileting, dressing, and personal care. Structured routines and gentle transitions help reduce anxiety and aid emotional regulation. Jake also experiences occasional absence seizures, currently under neurological investigation.
The Role at a Glance: This is a hands-on after-school role. You will collect Jake at 3:00 pm and Edward at 3:30 pm (15-minute drive), so confident driving is essential. At home, you’ll help them unwind with snacks, creative play such as den-building, and inclusive activities.
You’ll prepare dinner while supervising the boys (extra portions for parents welcomed), tidy play areas, wipe surfaces, do a quick hoover, and manage the dishwasher. Support Edward with homework, then assist both boys with showers and bedtime routines before parents finish work.
During school holidays, you may accompany the family on outings such as farms, bowling, gardens, and swimming, with opportunities for earlier starts twice weekly for batch cooking or dog walking.
This Job Would Suit: Someone bubbly, kind, and energetic who can be calmly firm when needed and enjoys becoming part of family life. The ideal candidate is creative, proactive, and passionate about working with children, particularly those with additional needs.
Why You’ll Love This Role: You’ll make a meaningful difference in both boys’ lives while working in a supportive, family-centred home. The role offers variety, creativity, and enjoyable activities, plus access to the family’s private outdoor swimming pool during the summer.
Recruitment Process: Snap Care manages the full recruitment process, including shortlisting, recruiter interviews, and arranging employer interviews.
Please note: Unfortunately, we are unable to provide sponsorship for any of our vacancies. If a specific gender is required, this is a genuine occupational requirement under paragraph 1, schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
