Mid Century Ercol Model 248 Armchair completely reupholstered.
Faringdon, Oxfordshire
£350

Description
This is a superb example of Ercol’s 248 Easy chair.
Dating from the mid twentieth century, this is a less usual design, which appears in their 1959 catalogue, but no longer seems to be in production by the time their 1965 catalogue is released.
The show wood is finished in a dark stain, probably their Old Colonial dark wood waxed finish, and carries the blue Ercol label used between 1954 and 1976. The frame and the finish are in excellent condition, with no damage and just a lovely soft patina of wear to the arms, reflecting its decades of use. The seat supports have been replaced with genuine Pirelli webbings and secured with dowels, in keeping with the original Ercol method. The cushion is a modern replacement and the whole has been reupholstered to modern standards in Mariner Moss fire retardant fabric - a lovely soft dark olive green chenille that tones well with current natural decorating trends. Fabric sample available on request. The chair measures 82 cm high x 66 cm wide x 48 cm deep. Seat height is 45 cm. The back is fully upholstered, while the seat cushion is removable, with a zipped cover for dry cleaning if necessary.
This is a lovely, compact and extremely comfortable statement chair for lovers of high quality, mid century modern furniture.
Collection in person is preferred, although shipment with your own courier at buyer’s risk is fine if necessary. For delivery within 30 miles I may be able to deliver in person - please contact me if this is of interest.
