Antique Arts & Crafts Oak Carver Chair – c.1930

Description

A charming antique oak Arts & Crafts style carver chair, believed to have been made by Pratt's of Bradford around 1930, with a delightful turned spindle back and beautifully aged patina.

This chair was acquired as part of a matching dining suite that included a sideboard carrying the original Pratt's of Bradford manufacturer's label. It is therefore believed to have been made by Pratt's of Bradford and has remained with the same family from new until recently, giving it an unusually well-documented history.

Unlike many antique chairs, this one has a warmth and playfulness that makes it feel instantly at home. It would work equally well as a desk chair, hall chair, bedroom or occasional chair, while its lighter proportions and decorative spindle back would also make it a charming feature in a nursery or child's bedroom.

The oak has developed a rich, honest patina over the decades and the chair remains solid throughout. The upholstered seat is clean and comfortable with an attractive woven geometric fabric.

A genuine British-made antique with nearly a century of history and plenty of life left in it.
