Vintage Hand-Carved Wooden St George and the Dragon Statue

Description

Acquire a truly breathtaking piece of master craftsmanship with this monumental vintage hand-carved solid wood sculpture of Saint George slaying the Dragon. Standing an impressive 77 cm tall and sculpted entirely in the round, this magnificent spiritual artwork functions as a commanding focal piece for an entryway, a private library, a study, or an eclectic estate living space.

This museum-quality statue is masterfully carved from a single, continuous, exceptionally heavy block of premium tropical hardwood—boasting incredible weight and displaying a beautiful, sweeping natural swirl grain across its solid underside. The highly dynamic composition captures Saint George in traditional Roman-style plate armour and a billowing, dramatic cape, masterfully balancing on a powerful, rearing stallion. Below, the multi-textured details vividly showcase the coiled, winged dragon being vanquished. The substantial integral plinth base features a cleanly recessed Latin Cross on both the front and rear facades.
