Description
Genuine antique mechanical money box, made by Thomas Ashworth & Co. of Burnley, England, under Starkie's Patent No. 32537 (Reg. No. 844290) dating to the mid-to-late 1940s.
This is a classic novelty coin bank: place a coin in the hand, press the lever, and the arm lifts to deposit the coin into the mouth while the ears and eyes rotate.
Fully working mechanism. tested and operating smoothly.
Condition: This is a genuine, original piece showing its age, surface oxidation and paint loss throughout (no repainting), consistent with 75+ years.
Mechanically sound and complete, including the original base plate and screw.
A great find for collectors of mechanical banks, vintage money boxes, or British manufacturing history. Marked clearly on the base with the maker's patent and registration numbers, confirming manufacture.
