Pair of big (440mm) old oriental vases. Plus free gifts!!
Treherbert, Rhondda Cynon Taf
Description
"Those Blue Ming Vases"
That's what my mother used to call them, though I can't think why, as they are not blue and are unlikely to be Ming.
A pair of big, colourful, earthenware vases, believed to be antique. Oriental, perhaps Japanese. Markings to base (see photos). Handles in the shape of fish.
Measurements: across base 107mm, across top 103mm, height 440mm, widest point 220mm approx.
Signs of wear, in particular loss of gilding. No cracks or chips detected. Colours to the decorative art on the body are good.
This pair of vases has real character and presence. The signs of wear (in particular loss of gilding) and the presence of earthenware, not porcelain, confirm that these are not modern pieces, though I would estimate that they are not much more than 100 years old.
Buyer collects only.
PLUS FREE GIFTS!!!!!
With the vases comes this framed Chinese print (21st Century reproduction or interpretation of a classical original). Measurements 53cm X43cm X 1.5cm. Shows man with large fish.
Also a poster (cut out from calendar) of Edo carp streamers
