Large English salt-glazed stoneware flagon
Height 30cm plus
Antique Erven Lucas Bols salt-glazed stoneware Jenever bottle. These utilitarian clay vessels were produced in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to distribute Jenever (Dutch gin) globally from the famous Amsterdam distillery.The distinctive stamp pressed into the clay reads "ERVEN LUCAS BOLS 'T LOOTSJE AMSTERDAM", which references the historical "little shed" (het lootsje) where the company originally established its roots in 1575.
