Antique Japanese Dai Nippon Moriage Incense Burner / Koro – Early 20th Century
Rogerstone, Newport
1 / 1
Description
Very attractive antique Japanese porcelain koro/incense burner, decorated with Japanese figures, extensive gilding and elaborate raised moriage enamel decoration.
The underside carries the Japanese “Dai Nippon” (Great Japan) mark.
Believed to date from the early 20th century, probably around the Taishō/early Showa period.
The piece stands on decorative feet and importantly retains its original-style pierced decorative lid, through which incense smoke would have escaped.
An unusual and very decorative piece of antique Japanese export porcelain.
There is age-related wear commensurate with an older item. Please examine photographs carefully.
£95 or sensible offer.
