Description

This sale is for a rare, pre-1900's book (I think) of, The Throne of David - From the Consecration of the Shepherd of Bethlehem to the Rebellion of Prince Absalom by the author, Rev. J. H. Ingraham. Illustrated. This book was published by George Routledge And Sons and was printed in either London.

The books overall design is exquisite. The Front cover has the title and two flowers embossed with gilt. This really stands out again the red cloth material used to cover the front cover, rear cover and the spine. the Front cover also has an embossed black leaf and flower picture, top and bottom borders and what looks like a representation of a city in the bottom right corner. The spine has gilt around the title to highlight it and an embossed plant/book picture along with the authors surname. The rear cover has what looks like an embossed crest. Finally, the edge of the pages are gold coloured. The combined effect results in one beautiful book.

In regards to the year and edition, there is nothing to indicate in the book when this version of the book was first printed or what edition it is. Based on similar copies, I have estimated the year somewhere before the 1900's but please note that this is only an estimate.

Overall the book seems quite rare. During my search, I was unable to find an edition that looked like this one, nor one that matched the number of pages. This edition, whatever that maybe seems to be very rare.

The overall condition is excellent. On the outside there is some slight wear and tear on the top of the spine and some marks on the rear cover. On the inside, there is some cracking (please see the advert pictures). There is also written on the second blank page from the front what looks like "W. Floyd" in pencil. For more specific details about the books condition, please see below and please view the advert pictures.
