An Antique 17th Century Carved Oak Bible Box on original stand.

Description

This is a lovely old antique 17th century Bible Box. The desk is in 2 pieces, the top section would have been for keeping the family bible in. With the lid closed, it can be used as a reading stand or lectern and inside there are 3 small compartments for pens or candles. Unusually the desk comprises an extra draw to the side and at the front.
The top section has a small gallery and it is beautifully carved all the way around, the slope is fixed with large butterfly hinges and sits on its original stand.
The desk is in good condition for its age and is a very attractive piece that lends itself as a greeting station or similar as it looks lovely from all sides.
An authentic Gothic piece with an excellent patina finish.Desk is 101cm high, 78cm wide and 46cm deep. Excellent investment value.
