Vintage Meteorite Ship Navigation Lantern Set of 2 Red/Green Year 1942
A superb and fully original pair of “Meteorite” ship’s navigation lanterns — Port (red) and Starboard (green) — both bearing their maker’s plates with “Patent No. 546575”, issued to W. T. George & Co. Ltd, Birmingham, circa 1941–1942.
These beautiful lamps represent authentic British maritime engineering from the WWII era, and are rare survivors in such exceptional condition

📅 Date: Circa 1941–1950 (based on Patent No. 546 575, granted 1942)
🛠️ Material: steel and brass construction
🔥 Original paraffin/oil burners intact and functional
💡 Glass lenses: Original coloured Fresnel glass – intact with no cracks or replacements
🧭 Plates & markings: Both bear matching “Port” & “Starboard” brass plaques, clear Meteorite maker’s marks, and patent plate “546575 and others pending”
🧳 Condition: Excellent for age – working condition, rich original patina, never electrified

Historical Note:
Patent No. 546575 (filed 1941, granted 1942) protected design improvements in Meteorite’s navigation lanterns. This design was widely used on British naval and commercial vessels throughout the 1940s and early 1950s.
