Description
Original hand coloured antique map drawn by George Taylor and Andrew Skinner and publish by Act of Parliament in 1776. This is a page from the very first official authorised road map of Scotland. The map, which is an original, not a copy, is in columnar format and covers the roads from Berwick to Dunse and also Hawick. Drawn on a scale of one inch to the mile the map details important locations along the route and makes note of important landowners at the time. The frame size is approx 23 x 12 while the map plate measures approx 18 x 7.
I have 12 other framed plates from the Taylor and Skinner map covering various parts of Scotland. Some have not been hand coloured. If you are interested in a specific area make an enquiry and I will see what I have. The map can be posted, free of charge, unframed to any UK postal address, provided payment is received in advance.
