Grounds Maintenance Operative

Berry Recruitment are currently looking for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our client's team working within Wythenshawe.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:15am - 3pm, 36.25 hours per week

Salary: £12.82 per hour

Contract Length: Initially temporary for 12 weeks with the potential to then go permanent for the right candidate!

Role Purpose

To deliver a range of grounds maintenance tasks ensuring outdoor spaces remain safe, clean, and visually maintained.

Key Responsibilities

Grass cutting, strimming, edging, hedge trimming.

Litter collection, leaf clearance, and general site tidiness.

Shrub and flowerbed maintenance.

Weed control using manual or chemical methods (depending on qualification).

Assist with use of grounds machinery and tools.

Follow daily schedules and meet performance targets.

Support seasonal activities such as winter gritting and planting.

Adhere to safety guidelines and use PPE appropriately.Essential Skills & Experience

Experience in grounds or outdoor labour roles.

Able to use common grounds equipment (strimmers, blowers, hedge cutters).

Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather.

Reliable, punctual, and team‑oriented.

Full UK drivers licenseDesirable

LANTRA or NVQ horticulture qualifications.

PA1/PA6 certification.
