Despatch Team Leader

Role

We are looking for a proactive Despatch Team Leader to manage our despatch team. You'll ensure customer orders are picked accurately and dispatched in full and on time, while maintaining high standards. Working closely with other departments, you'll lead by example, support continuous improvement and help deliver excellent service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead, motivate and manage the day-to-day performance of the despatch team against departmental KPIs.

· Ensure all customer orders are dispatched on time, in full and to the required quality standards.

· Maintain stock rotation procedures to minimise errors, waste and stock splits.

· Ensure all pre-use inspections are completed on trailers and material handling equipment (MHE), reporting any defects immediately.

· Escalate any potential delays, shortages or operational issues promptly, identifying root causes and supporting solutions.

· Complete all despatch paperwork accurately and ensure systems are used correctly.

· Investigate stock and system discrepancies, identifying improvements to prevent repeat issues.

· Deliver effective shift handovers to ensure operational continuity.

· Provide hands-on operational support whenever required to ensure customer deliveries are achieved.

· Support overtime requirements to cover holidays and sickness when necessary.

· Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to increase efficiency within the despatch operation.

· Ensure full compliance with all Health & Safety, Food Safety and Hygiene standards at all times.

· Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure effective communication and smooth operations.

Skills and Experience

Essential

· Previous experience supervising or leading a despatch, warehouse or logistics team.

· Strong written and spoken English.

· Excellent numeracy and attention to detail.

· Good Microsoft Office skills, including email and database systems.

· Strong communication and organisational skills.

· Experience of stock control and inventory management.

· Ability to analyse data, investigate issues and solve problems effectively.

· Counterbalance Forklift Licence.

· Experience within a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturing environment.
