New personal assistants needed! - London and international travel

Hi there,

I have cerebral palsy and I am looking for assistants who can travel with me abroad as well as those who can work regular shifts in London. I am an equality consultant, my background is in academic Law and I have co-created award-winning theatre on disability and sexuality.

The majority of my assistants have never worked with disabled people and this helps me train people from a blank slate.

Pay is £20/hour.

Role 1: London-based work

I need assistance with almost every part of everyday living, including in the bathroom, cooking my meals, feeding me, and keeping my flat tidy including general housework.

I have a speech impairment. You will need to repeat my speech in person when we are out and when we are on Zoom calls. I need a good level of written English so that you can transcribe articles and emails with good grammar and spelling. I acknowledge that everyone will have different skills, and that’s ok.

Hours available: 10-20 per week- I offer a flexible working pattern, often 9-5 and 5-9pm shifts.

Role 2: Travel abroad

I like to travel, especially to Amsterdam and Paris. In addition to the basic needs outlined above, these days can be quite long and stamina and some physical strength is always helpful.

While there are no medical aspects of this job, I do have substantial care needs and it is important that you can be open-minded. My care needs are higher outside London. You don’t need medical experience but you do need to be open-minded and allow me to tell you what would help me best in difficult situations.

Hours available: 2 trips per month of 2 or 3 days - these are capped but pay discussed at interview.
