Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Geoenvironmental Engineer to join a growing consultancy team. The role will be primarily based in the North West, with frequent working from home with the expectation of travel for site work as required.

You will join a multidisciplinary team of engineers, geologists and environmental scientists who work closely with civil and structural engineering specialists. The consultancy focuses on identifying, assessing and mitigating abnormal development costs at an early stage, delivering comprehensive and practical solutions across geotechnical, environmental and waste‑management challenges for both commercial and private clients.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

A minimum of 2 years' post‑graduate experience in geoenvironmental or geotechnical engineering.

A proven background in managing and reporting on contaminated land projects, geotechnical investigations, and civil engineering site assessments.

Knowledge and/or experience in earthworks, remediation, and verification processes (beneficial but not essential).

A relevant Master's degree in geology, environmental science or a related discipline (advantageous).

Experience using borehole logging software such as HoleBASE, OpenGround, or AGS, plus strong skills in MS Word and Excel, with basic CAD knowledge.

Strong communication skills for engaging with clients, contractors, and regulators, along with excellent report‑writing capability. xjnqpsq

Membership of a professional body such as the Geological Society or CIWEM, ideally working toward Chartered Status.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

Producing Phase 1 Desk Studies and Phase 2 Site Investigation Reports

Designing, organising and managing site investigations, including soil and rock logging

Recording, interpreting and presenting site investigation data

Preparing chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing schedules

Undertaking DQRA assessments

Preparing generic and site‑specific health and safety risk assessments

Providing guidance and support to junior team members within the region
