We are happy to be recruiting for one of our high-profile banking clients. They are currently looking for a Technical Writer AVP to join them for an initial 6 month contract, however there may be scope for extension.

Role Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to produce clear, accurate and well-structured technical documentation for client applications. This includes user manuals, requirement documents, system and process explanations, and supporting materials that make complex technical and business information easier to understand and apply.

The role supports the clients development by improving documentation quality, promoting consistency across the software development life cycle, and enabling developers, support teams and business stakeholders to work from a shared understanding of application behaviour, procedures and requirements.

Responsibilities:

Produce and maintain technical documents for applications developed by the clients development team, ensuring content is accurate, complete, consistent and easy to understand.

Work across the software development life cycle to create and update documentation such as business specifications, technical specifications, system details, database object descriptions, technical specifications, test support manuals, system operation manuals, system maintenance details, system support history record, knowledgebase content, and internal procedure manuals.

Review documentation produced by internal developments and provide guidance to improve clarity, usability and alignment with business knowledge and application behaviour.

Compile documentation for both internal and external client use, ensuring that materials are suitable for their intended audience and purpose.

Guiding the development team to understand the clients "Change Management Control procedures" getting approval for any updates in production systems and "Maintenance reports" for QA, Release and Development environments.

Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions for new hires and existing developers to build understanding of applications, business processes, and documentation standards

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Strong understanding of Financial Concepts

Strong analytical skills, with the ability and curiosity to explore, interpret, and understand software functionality, systems, and underlying technical processes, and translate complex technical information into clear, accessible language to create high-quality documentation for difference audiences.

Strong understanding of software development concepts, systems, and technical processes, with the ability to quickly learn and understand complex technologies.

Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage priorities effectively in a technical environment

Ability to adapt and work effectively within evolving technology landscapes, development methodologies, and changing business requirements.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with software developers, technical teams, and business stakeholders

Proven technical writing experience within an IT, software development, or technology-focused environment

Proven experience in producing high-quality technical documentation, including requirement specifications, user guides, process documentation, and various technical artifacts

Experience working closely with software development teams, and business stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document complex technical information into clear, structured, and accessible documentation for a range of audiences.

Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio for creating documents, presentations, and any relevant artifacts.

Desirable Experience:

Prior programming experience or the ability and interest to understand software code and technical concepts

Technical writing experience within financial services or a similar regulated/complex business environment

MS SQL, .Net, C#, SDLC, Agile, Development skills.

MS SharePoint, Azure DevOps, Jira

Location:

This is a hybrid working role, with a requirement to work from the clients London office 3 days a week.

Working hours:

Standard working hours with some flex where required.
