Payroll Senior Technician

Salary: Up to £33,000

Location: Stockport

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Working Pattern: Fully office-based

The Opportunity

This is a senior, hands-on payroll role for someone ready to step up. You’ll play a key role in supporting payroll delivery, acting as a senior point of contact, and helping lead the team as the department continues to grow.

Perfect for someone with bureau, umbrella, recruitment, or client payroll experience who’s ambitious and wants progression.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver accurate payroll across weekly, fortnightly, and monthly cycles

*

Review payroll outputs ensuring PAYE, NI, RTI, and pension compliance

*

Handle and resolve payroll queries from contractors, clients, and internal teams

*

Support stakeholder relationships including HMRC where required

*

Act as senior escalation point when needed to ensure smooth payroll delivery

The Ideal Candidate

*

Senior-level payroll experience (or ready to step into senior responsibility)

*

Background in umbrella, recruitment, bureau, or accountancy payroll

*

Confident with weekly and monthly payrolls

*

Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

*

Strong communicator and team player

*

CIPP qualified or keen to pursue
