Description
Job Opportunity: Personal Assistant to a Director
Location: Horsham, West Sussex
Hybrid Working: 2–3 days office-based, remainder remote/flexible
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 DOE + bonus + benefits
The Role
I’m supporting a leading financial services business currently going through an exciting period of growth and change. They’re looking for a Personal Assistant to work closely with one of their Advising Directors.
This role is pivotal, the Director is incredibly client-focused, in demand, and often oversubscribed. He’s well-liked (with a love of dad jokes!), but he needs someone strong, organised, and proactive by his side to help manage his time, commitments, and priorities.
The position is varied, busy, and will suit someone who enjoys being one step ahead, managing upwards, and acting as the Director’s right hand. You’ll also work closely with the wider team during what is a particularly exciting and hectic period of change, as the firm merges and rebrands into a more bespoke financial planning business.
Key Responsibilities
Diary & Inbox Management: Take ownership of a highly dynamic diary, ensuring meetings, client calls, and events are managed effectively while building in space for breaks, family time, and strategic priorities.
Client & Team Liaison: Check in with the Director daily to capture meeting outcomes, liaise with colleagues, and make sure client follow-ups are actioned promptly.
Process & Oversight: Support with reviewing processes and ensuring the Director is aligned with consumer duty requirements and industry standards.
Travel & Events: Arrange overseas travel, golf days, and charity functions; support company events and team activities.
Forward Planning: Anticipate bottlenecks, busy periods, and potential clashes, ensuring the Director is supported both professionally and personally.
General PA Support: Draft correspondence, prepare meeting packs, manage business literature, and take dictated notes.
Personal Balance: Help manage the Director’s commitments so he maintains a balance between client work, business obligations, and family life. What We’re Looking For
Experience: Ideally a blend of PA/EA experience and exposure to the financial services sector.
Personality: A confident, caring individual with a big personality – someone who can be kind but firm, with the ability to manage upwards, push back when needed, and think strategically.
Skills: Excellent organisation, strong memory, able to adlib and think on your feet. Strong IT skills (MS Office, CRM).
Knowledge: Understanding of financial services terms and consumer duty would be highly beneficial.
Approach: Resilient, proactive, and happy to prioritise the Director’s needs before your own, knowing how to keep him on track without being overbearing.
What’s on Offer
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 DOE
Bonus: £1,000 – £2,000 summer & winter bonus
Holidays: 23 days + Bank Holidays + 4 duvet days
Flexible working hours with ability to build up 8 flex hours a month
Hybrid model: 2–3 days in office, flexibility to work from home if the Director is away
Free parking
Pension scheme (Nest or salary sacrifice option)
Involvement in company events, team socials, and charity activities
Friendly, collaborative team culture with strong support during onboarding (6-week embedding period with no pressure)
