Description

Payroll Lead

Location: Altrincham (Hybrid working)

Salary: £34,500

Are you an experienced payroll professional ready to step into a leadership role within a fast-paced, compliance-focused environment?

We’re looking for a Payroll Lead to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy payroll department, delivering a range of Umbrella, Deemed, and Client payrolls, along with CIS payments. This is a hands-on position where you’ll play a key role in maintaining accuracy, compliance, and service excellence, while supporting a growing payroll team.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring deadlines are met, processes are followed, and standards remain high — from payroll validations and reconciliations to statutory payments, bank reconciliations, and pension management. Beyond payroll, you’ll also have the chance to contribute to wider operational tasks such as invoicing, expense management, and continuous system improvements.

As a natural leader, you’ll motivate and develop your team, build strong relationships across departments, and drive a culture of accountability and learning. With significant investment in people and systems, this is an opportunity to make a tangible impact within a well-established, rapidly growing organisation.

What we’re looking for:

*

Strong technical payroll knowledge (Umbrella / CIS / Deemed experience preferred)

*

Proven experience in team leadership or senior payroll coordination

*

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

*

Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines

*

A proactive, process-driven mindset with a passion for improvement

If you’re ready to take ownership, lead by example, and help shape the future of a thriving payroll function — we’d love to hear from you
