We are looking for a Financial Controller to join a fast-growing GBP10M turnover construction business.

Location: Birmingham (3 days per week)

Salary:GBP60k plus bonus

Financial Controller The Role:

We are recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing GBP10M turnover construction business based in Birmingham, for a hands-on Financial Controller. This is a key leadership role with a clear path to Finance Director, ideal for someone from a similar-sized business who thrives in a lean, fast-paced environment.

Financial Controller - Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage a small finance team of 3

- Produce accurate monthly management accounts and board reports

- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning

- Ensure full compliance with CIS, VAT regulations, and payroll processes

- Strengthen internal controls and drive process improvements

- Partner with project teams to support financial decision-making

- Liaise with auditors, HMRC, banks, and external advisors

Financial Controller - You:

- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)

- Strong working knowledge of CIS, VAT compliance, and payroll

- Hands-on approach with a willingness to get involved in day-to-day operations

- Not accustomed to large teams or heavily structured environments

- Ideally from a similar-sized business in the construction sector

- Commercially minded with strong communication and leadership skills
