Company Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join the busy finance department of a leading flooring contractor, based in Winsford, Cheshire. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the debt collection process by proactively contacting customers to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices, along with maintaining an accurate and up-to-date sales ledger, minimising overdue accounts and contributing to healthy cash flow and financial stability.

Key Duties & Responsibilities for our Credit Controller:

* Provide customers with monthly statements and follow up via email and telephone to confirm balances

* Supply copies of sales invoices upon request to support timely payment

* Contact customers to collect overdue payments, send reminders, and negotiate repayment terms where necessary

* Resolve billing disputes or discrepancies by liaising with customers and internal departments

* Reconcile customer accounts accurately and promptly, ensuring all payments are correctly allocated

* Report regularly to the Credit Control Team Leader on collection status and credit risk exposure

* Ensure compliance with company credit policies and suggest improvements where appropriate

* Support the wider finance team with ad hoc tasks and collaborative projects

Essential Skills and Experience Required for our Credit Controller:

* Strong knowledge of credit control procedures and effective debt collection techniques

* Experience with NetSuite ERP is advantageous

* Confident user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

* Excellent communication skills for engaging with customers, suppliers, auditors and internal teams

* Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities

* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

* Proven experience in a similar role within a busy office setting

* Analytical and detail-orientated approach to financial tasks and reporting

Schedule: Monday - Friday 37.75 hours per week, fully office-based

Location: Winsford CW7
