Description

Credit Control Team Leader

Hybrid Role

Derbyshire

£35,000 - £40,000

Are you an experienced credit control or collections professional ready to take the next step in your career? Do you enjoy leading people, building strong commercial relationships and finding smarter ways to improve cash flow?

We’re looking for a proactive and commercially minded Credit Control Team Leader to lead and develop a team responsible for maximising collections, supporting business growth and protecting profitability.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of the collections process, influence key business decisions and create a high-performing, target-driven team within a fast-paced, commercially focused environment.

The role:

As Credit Control Team Leader, you’ll play a pivotal role in overseeing the end-to-end order-to-cash process, balancing effective credit risk management with the need to support sales and maintain strong customer relationships.

Working closely with senior stakeholders and commercial teams, you’ll ensure the collections function operates efficiently, delivers results and provides valuable insight to support business performance.

You’ll have the opportunity to shape processes, develop your team and make a tangible difference to cash flow, customer experience and overall profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

* Coach, motivate and support colleagues to maximise performance, improve capability and achieve collection targets.

* Oversee the order-to-cash process, ensuring outstanding debt is managed effectively and cash collection targets are achieved.

* Work closely with sales, commercial teams and senior management to balance business growth with effective credit risk management.

* Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, strengthen controls and improve the efficiency of the collections function.

* Review and authorise credit limits, ensure appropriate credit controls are in place and support informed commercial decisions.

* Manage complex debt cases and legal recovery processes, ensuring appropriate action is taken to minimise losses.

* Ensure credit policies and procedures are understood, consistently applied and followed across the business.

* Lead month-end reporting and provide clear, timely insight into collections performance and credit-related risks.

* Review relevant credit monitoring information, ensuring risks are identified and appropriate actions are taken.

Person Profile:

We’re keen to hear from candidates who combine strong collections expertise with a passion for leadership, continuous improvement and commercial success.

You’ll ideally bring:

* Experience in credit control, with the confidence to manage priorities in a demanding commercial environment.

* Proven leadership, coaching or team development skills, with the ability to motivate others and improve performance.

* A results-driven mindset and a track record of reliability, accountability and delivering against targets.

* Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with both finance and commercial stakeholders.

* A sound understanding of credit risk, credit control processes and the wider order-to-cash cycle.

* The ability to analyse information, identify potential risks and make informed, commercially balanced decisions.

* A proactive approach to problem-solving, process improvement and embracing new challenges. xjnqpsq

* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

* A CICM qualification, or working towards one, would be advantageous but isn't essential
