Location: Lincoln (office based)

Salary: GBP32,000 per annum + bonus

Vacancy Type: Permanent, Full Time

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (half day finish on a Friday)

Benjamin Edwards are recruiting for an Assistant Financial Accountant to join an established and successful business based in Lincoln.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to continue developing their accounting career within a busy finance team. Working closely with the Financial Controller, you will gain broad exposure across management accounts, statutory reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow, alongside involvement in wider finance projects and systems improvements.

The role would suit someone who is either studying towards a professional accounting qualification or looking to progress their experience within a Financial Accountant/Management Accountant environment.

The role

You will support the Financial Controller and wider finance team with:

Preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accurate and timely reportingCompleting and reviewing balance sheet reconciliationsSupporting the preparation of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reportingInvestigating and explaining variances against budget and prior yearSupporting year-end close and preparation of statutory accountsPreparing information and supporting schedules for the year-end auditLiaising with external auditorsAssisting with annual budgets and reforecastsSupporting senior stakeholders with overhead budgets and challenging costs where appropriateMaintaining and developing budgeting and forecasting modelsReviewing daily cash flow forecastsSupporting the purchase and sales ledger teams with queriesGetting involved in wider finance projects, including systems and ERP improvementsProviding additional support to the Financial Controller and wider finance team as required The ideal candidate

You will have strong numerical and analytical skills with previous experience gained within a finance or accounting environment. You will be confident using Excel, comfortable working to deadlines and able to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Ideally, you will be studying towards or looking to progress through a professional accounting qualification and keen to develop your experience across both management and financial accounting.

You will be a proactive, collaborative individual with good communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues and stakeholders across the wider business.

The opportunity

This is a varied role offering exposure to the full accounting cycle rather than focusing on one narrow area of finance. You will work closely with an experienced Financial Controller, develop your month-end and year-end experience and have the opportunity to contribute to improvements within the finance function.
