English Tutor for School and University Students

I am a fully GTCS registered English teacher with over 30 years of experience of teaching English at National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher levels. I have an excellent record of academic attainment both in the classroom and in one to one tuition with students of varied skills and abilities but I am particularly successful in working with young people who have failed exams and are re-sitting. Generally, I can improve students’ grades by two levels between the prelim and the actual exam.

Feedback from students suggests that this is because I am patient, enthusiastic and relentlessly optimistic about their chances of success, even against the odds!

I have taught at National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher level to outstanding success over many years and enabled young people whom I have tutored to achieve success where their school has suggested otherwise.

My language and communication skills are excellent and I have utilised these too, for several years, working with university students who require help with dissertations, theses and assessments, in terms of ensuring that their work is grammatically correct and reads fluently and clearly. This is of benefit to those who lack confidence in their language skills, or for whom English is a second language.

I work online or face to face (in the Lanarkshire area) and my fee is £40.00 an hour. Sessions can be weekly, fortnightly or as and when required.

For undergraduate/postgraduate work, this is usually sent to me to read and edit. There is no face to face requirement.
