Here at RFH Classics we are delighted to offer this charming 1968 (G) Volkswagen Beetle 1300, finished in the wonderfully period shade of Peru Green with contrasting Beige interior trim. Supplied new in the UK by Bengry Volkswagen of Hereford on the 1st November 1968 to its first owner, a Mr Greenhouse, this delightful Beetle represents everything that makes the model so loved, character, charm, and enduring reliability. Currently the car is undergoing final preparation in our workshop with further details and photographs to follow shortly, along with highlights from the incredible history file that accompanies the car.

This classic Beetle comes with an exceptional and comprehensive file documenting decades of careful ownership and meticulous maintenance. Within the file are extensive records including the original service book with 23 service stamps, original handbooks and operating instructions, extensive old invoices and parts receipts as well as nearly every MOT test dating from 2021 all the way back to 1990. In recent times, the car has benefited from high quality repainting and extensive attention to detail throughout. Mechanical and cosmetic work has been carried out by respected Volkswagen specialists including Beetles Re-Unite, VW Heritage, and Machine 7 with recent servicing and improvements ensuring the car runs and drives superbly.

The Volkswagen Beetle, officially designated the Type 1, is one of the most iconic and instantly recognisable cars ever built. Conceived as a true ‘people’s car’ that combined simple, effective engineering with timeless design. By the late 1960s, the Beetle 1300 featured the lively 1.3-litre flat-four air-cooled engine, a unit celebrated for its distinctive sound, robust reliability and engaging character. This particular example stands as a wonderful testament to the enduring appeal of the Beetle. Equally suited to weekend drives, local club shows or simply to be enjoyed for the classic motoring experience it offers, this 1968 Beetle 1300 remains one of the most iconic classics ever to grace the road.
