Description

Hi there,

I am looking for bandmates to form a new band.

All musicians welcome; singer, drummer, bass, keys, guitar, harmonica…

I am a guitar player with influences ranging from Hendrix, JJ Cale and the blues greats, through to George Harrison, and Etta James. My style of play is influenced with the blues, but I can mix it up from upbeat high tempo rock n roll stuff, to a soulful ballad approach. So it’s a blues, rock n roll, soul type of sound I am developing.

I have been jamming with various people for the last couple of years now and I am keen to create a group of like minded people, who can take the music we love and put our own creative spin on things. Hopefully in time we gel and can play about with original material, but realistically, covers is the obvious place to start. I’m thinking Cocaine, Black Magic Woman, La Grange, After Midnight, Foxy Lady, just to name a few. And with covers we don’t need to be bound like a tribute band, but can instead use existing tunes to get expressive and make our own unique versions.

From experience I think agreeing on a few songs before the first practice, is the best way to start. That way there is an instant launching point from which to build from. So with that in mind, my idea is to get input from everyone interested, and agree to a list of 10 tracks we can get familiar with before the first practice session. Things can be a bit stilted when first getting together so I think this is a good approach for hitting the ground running.

I would love to get to a place where it’s a group of well balanced musicians who all have an equal part to play, so do not worry, this is not a guitar player looking to dominate with long winded solo indulgent sessions. And on that note I am not wanting any big egos that will get bent out of shape when a chord change is missed. This is all about having a good time and building something creative together.

The practice sessions will take place at the Substation in Rosyth, which is nice and central and a great facility for creativity.

If this sounds like something you are interested in then please get in touch and let’s make some music together.

And if you have any other question please message me for more information.

For context I am 45yrs old.

Thanks for looking.
