Description

Born July 31, 1931, in Berlin, the artist's real name was Hans-Rolf Rippert.
The Stage Persona: He adopted the Russian-sounding stage name "Ivan Rebroff" and wore Cossack-style clothing to fit his repertoire of Russian folk and gypsy music.
The Name Origin: "Rebroff" was a play on his real German surname Rippert (derived from the Russian word for rib), and he successfully built a legendary persona around Eastern European culture.

Vocal Talent: Despite the constructed background, he possessed a genuine and remarkable vocal octave range that allowed him to sing deep bass and high falsetto notes with global renown.

Ivan Rebroff died in 2008 aged 77, making his vintage albums now highly collectible.

This album of his name is a rare 1972 Australian pressing on the CBS label. It describes him as "The richest, darkest, lowest, highest bass in the world". "An incredible three-octave range". Tracks include Lara's theme (from Dr Zhivago), Two Guitars, Dark Eyes, Song of the Volga Boatman, and more Sung in Russian. Accompanied by Balalaika-Ensemble Troika.

This is a highly collectible item of particular interest to vintage vinyl collectors, lovers of Eastern European themes, or collectors of music from historical Australian record companies.
This is clearly a vintage used item with an aged cover showing signs of previous ownership. The quality of the pressing can not be confirmed or whether or not the item may contain visible or non-visible scratches, or other marks, that may or may not affect audible quality. Buyers of this item should do so primarily for historical, interest or collecting reasons rather than expecting perfect sound quality. Advances in audio reproduction, namely digital recordings should be sought if sound quality is the main reason for purchase.
