Original Series 1 TiVo PVR (Personal Video Recorder) hard drive TV recorder with compatible Sony Freeview box. Both have remotes and all cables.
While the original service for this was withdrawn you can still get all the guide data via a 0845 local rate telephone call to ALT epg servers
This TiVo is fully set up to work with ALT epg software and works perfectly. It calls in once a day or when ever you want it to via an 0845 local rate number (these are often free as part of your telephone package) to download the latest guide data. You can set when it calls and bar it from calling during peak times. It carries enough guide data for 7-10 days so you dont always need it to call everyday, but calls need to last longer if it has to get more than a days data but generally most calls only last 3-5mins, many phone packages include calls to 0845 within them so they are basically free.
It can record one channel but you can still watch a recorded program while its recording one or another channel. While it may not be a cutting edge PVR it does use a completely free service meaning no monthly subscription and was the very first hard drive video recorder released in the UK back in the year 2000.
Given these units are now 24yrs old and still working perfectly is a credit to the original designers and the team behind the ALT epg service.
